Multi-GPU Artificial Intelligence &  Quantum sims Lab @ CBPF: paving the road towards Quantum Machine Learning

with Clécio R. de Bom

Date: Friday, June 16th, 13:00 BRT

“The simulation of Quantum algorithms on Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) has become an increasingly relevant research topic due to the potential to simulate and scale-up quantum systems beyond the capabilities of current Quantum Computers.

This seminar explores the implementation and benchmarking of advanced quantum algorithms on GPUs, focusing on their highly parallel architecture advantages. We present the development of our Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Simulations lab, including the hardware developments that allow us to work with computer nodes with ~8 GPUs. Despite the promising results in GPU-based quantum algorithm simulations, there are notable challenges in integrating quantum machine learning (QML) techniques. Therefore, we present our first tests and prospects of simulation and development of Quantum Machine learning techniques into our hardware.”

Clécio graduated in Physics from Universidade do Rio de Janeiro and obtained his PhD from Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas, where he holds a professor position. He has been working with Machine Learning techniques since his PhD and has been one of the pioneers in Brazil to use Deep Learning.
